Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT

The principles of CBT are as follows:

  • Your thoughts, feelings, sensations and actions are all related and interconnected. Negative thoughts and feeling can entrap you in this cycle.
  • CBT helps challenge these feelings in a positive way by breaking them down into bite size manageable parts.
  • These negative patterns can be managed and improved in small ways to improve the way you think and feel about the problem.
  • CBT focuses on the problem in the now and does not focus on issues from your past.It is a positive step forward and looks for practice ways to improve your mental health daily.

CBT has been proven to be successful in the treatment of:

  • Depression or anxiety disorders
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Phobias
  • Eating Disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Alcohol dependency

CBT cannot cure the physical symptoms of these conditions; however, it provides the individual with the tools to cope better with these symptoms.

Mindfulness, Pilates, Tai Chi and Yoga

In our technology driven, hectic lives, it can be difficult to stop and be present, to notice the colours around us, to savour the taste of the food we eat or enjoy the smiles in the conversation we are having with our loved ones. Mindfulnessis the act of listening to our thoughts, feelings and absorbing the sensations of the world around us to better our mental wellbeing and health.

At Elate Health, we offer Mindfulness workshops, classes and 1 to 1 sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to help you notice the everyday, socialise, meet new like-minded people and take steps towards a more thoughtful, productive life.

Elate understand the importance of physical health in partnership with mental health. By providing you with the tools to physically be mindful and present in your body, you will be taking positive steps towards being more present mentally. We offer small intimate sessions of 5 clients per teacher to ensure you are truly benefiting from the class.
